The War; Funds Council ..mEt at Parliament Htiuse yesterday. • v , A reaoiution of' appreciation of the Hon. W. D. Stewart's services as MinFunds and-for.the interest displayed-, by him in patriotic matter was carried unanimously. It was deoided; that .a further sum. of £5000 he. authorised to assist in the relief of unemployed soldiers d.W-ing the forth-' coming yearl' i,r ; 5 A resolution was passed recommending the Government to accord further assistance to South African veterans. Pleasure was expressed that at this date bequests'made for the benefit of exsoldiers showed that their services were still remembered. .. ■ •• The disposal of .the remaining portion of the Methodist war fund was finalised. The moneys will he used in the assistance of padres in accordance with the original purpose. The accumulated fund of the trust stands at £162,1 S3 19/7, in addition to which there are trust funds of £6991 15/9.
