COSTLY WEEDS.
TAKAPUNAS BAD CROP.
PROPERTY OWNER'S LAMENT
Mr. F. J. Pullen, solicitor, a wellknown resident of Takapuna, along with othero, was prosecuted by the Borough Council in the Police Court to-day for failing to clear liis property of noxious weeds.
"I have 23 properties in Takapuna." said Mr. Pullen. 'T can't sell them. I can't let them, but I have paid the council hundreds of pounds in rates. I would willingly give some of my sections away if people would only clear them of noxious weeds, but no one will take them. The position is that I cannot afford to clear the noxious weeds on my properties. I'm so hard up that recently the Gas Company cut my gas off because I 'had not paid my account." Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: What about the mortgagees; won't they do something about clearing the weeds? "No," answered Mr. Pullen. Mr. Inder, who appeared for the Takapuna Borough Council, said he felt very sorrv for Mr. Pullen.
Mr. Hunt adjourned the charge against defendant until August 9, so that defendant could ascertain whether the mortgagees would do somethiug.
