REVIEW OF SATURDAY'S •. GAMES. THE LEADING TEAMS. At the conclusion of Saturday's games Otahuhu and Point Chevalier remain at the head of the senior B grade competition, and, with only two more matches to be decided, the championship honours may be won by either. The meeting on Saturday next, of these two rivals should provide a great contest, and the Auckland Rugby League has arranged for the battle to be staged at Carla.w Park. Both teams have a large following, and some keen barracking can be expected. • - The match between Point Chevalier and Richmond Avas easily the most iiiteresting'of last week's fixtures) Point being fully extended to. win by 8 points to nil. In the first . half Richmond played fine football, and a try by McLaren for Point made the only points scored. In the second; session both teams threw the ball about in good style. With more finish, Eiehniond might have scored on two occasions. The maroons have only to gain more experience to be a side liard to beat. The Richmond club's senior A team will benefit by the chances given these boys to rise above good juniors. Point had. too much experience ' for Richmond; Weight, and husky forwards,-beat back Richmond's bright flashes of. back play. Goodwin got a try, and Cronin' kicked', a goal for the winners in the second half. 1.. Humphries played a sound game at full-back. He puts plenty of vim in.his kicking. The Point custodian _ could improve his play by running Avith the ball more towards liis 'three-quarters. McLaren's try was a line effort. Smith played a sound game at centre, as., did Duncan, Avhose form of late lias been, impressive. Cronin's experience was lielpful to the backs. Monaghan and, Lane were good on attack. tago, but only scoied live points against ten for Otalmlm. Play at times reached the liard stage, and some incidents escaped the notice of the referee. There is undoubtedly a bud feeling between these two teams. Why it exists is difficult to understand. The Eustace-Matson-Harris combination did 'some splendid work for Otahuhu. The trio passed at the right time and used their pace to advantage. Ferxall played a good game behind the scrum, getting through a lot of useful work. " Conway was outstanding among the .forwards, while Hart and Gordon gave excellent support. For Parnoll, Kerr played a good game, despite a gruelling from the opposition. Lunn was the pick of the three-quarters, while Campney was also jirominent. Anderson was Parnell's best back. On attack he made some beautiful openings. Little did good work at halfback. Ritchie was equal "to the best forward, and Brockliss and McLaren also did useful work. In respect to the above game, the secretary of the Parnell Club writes complaining bitterly of the rough play which, was revealed on Saturday, and registers the opinion that the referee was weak in dealing with the ofleiulers.
