PLASTIC SCREEN COMING.
ACTION IN NATURAL COLOURS,
Interesting information of what may be expected shortly of motion pictures is given by Mr. W. E. Kirby, Auckland manager of Paramount l'ilins, who returned by the' Marama this morning from a visit to Sydney. While in Australia, Mr. Kirby attended a congress of Paramount oJiicials, at which developments which are at present being exploited were discussed. Of greatest interest is the possibility of third dimensional screening, a process by which the figures on the screen will stand in relief, and will appear as in real • life. Combined .with this will be, natural colour photography and, with the plastic screen (as third dimensional screening will be called), natural colours and sound and dialogue, it is expected, that motion pictures will have reached a state as near perfection as possible. Mr. Kirby was in Sydney when the disastrous lire ruined £200,000 worth of film. Of this, his company's loss was only about £2000, representing 10,000 feet of film. The greatest losers were the Fox Film Corporation, which was deprived of £.10,000 worth of its latest features, the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corporation and the First National Comjmny. -
