SPORTS CLUB'S OUTING.

The Sports Motor Cycle Club held its animal "wash" at Hinenioa Hot Springs, Helensville, on June 10. The following riders assembled at Western Springs to participate in the day's fun: A. Myers (Indian), S. Person (A.J.S.), W. Coyle (Royal Enfield) ,'L. Coultliard (Velocettc), J. Stewart (Indian), W. Marett (8.5.A.), R. Bull (Velocette), A. McLaren (A.J.S.), G. Leonard (Velocette), D. McLaren (Francis Barnett), K. Leonard (8.5.A.), A. Rogers (Rudge), H. Way (Rex Acme), A. Harriman (Royal Enfield), A. Plowman (Xew Imperial), A. Tierney (HarleyDavidson), M. Robinson (Royal Enfield), S. Brookes (New Hudson), W. Tremayne (A.J.S.), R. Cairns (Royal Enfield), A. Hudson (Velocette), H. Stephenson (Rex Acme), J. Perman (Royal Enfield), and A. Mills (New Imperial). The party was accompanied by Mr. F. W. Cave, Mr. W. White, Mr. C. J. Walker, Mr. C. D. Walker and Mr. Austin Harry, the latter being a well-known English track and competition rider. After dinner at Helensville the members rode to Muriwai Beach and spent an hour riding 011 the sand, returning to the city at.5.30. The next club run is to Beachlands on June 30, assembling at.Creat South Road Terminus at 9.30. SMALL MACHINE'S BIG TRIP. A fine reliability trip to Wellington and back to Auckland was made a week ago by J. Stewart, an Auckland rider, 011 a 1| h.p. Excelsior, which is a British machine. Mr. Stewart left Auckland at S a.m. on Thursday, June 0, and rode without a stop to Awakino, a distance of 172 miles. Here lie filled up his tank and continued 011 to Xew Plymouth, where he spent the night. He arrived at Wellington at 10 o'clock on Saturday morning, June 8. Mr. Stewart, who rode back to Auckland early last week, states that the object of the trip was not speed, but a reliability test. His total travelling time to Wellington from Auckland was 20 hours 20 minutes. Only 2£ gallons of benzine was consumed by the baby machine. This is an average of 198.52 miles to the gallon, truly a remarkable performance. ENGLISH T.T. RACES. Last week the junior tourist trophy race was run 011 the Isle of Man and was won by Hicks, mounted on a Velocette, Handley, 011 an A.J.S. gaining second and Bennett (Velocette) third places. Robson (Sunbeam) finished fourth, and Velocettes (Simistor and Hall) fifth and sixth respectively. The winner's average speed was 09.71 miles per hour, his fastest lap bing done at the rate of 70.9 miles per hour. The senior tourist trophy motor cycle race in the Isle of Man attracted 47 competitors, and huge crowds lined the roads to witness the event. The race was won by C. J. P. Dodson, 011 a Sunbeam, in 3 hours 3D minutes 59 seconds. A. Bennett, on a Sunbeam, was second i.ll 3 hours 44 minutes 47 seconds; and TyrellSmith, 011 a Rudge-Whitwortli, was third, in 3 hours 4"> minutes 37 seconds.
