AMUSEMENTS.

i | HIPPODROME THEATRE. :• To-morrow there will be a complete ■ cliange of programme at the Hippodrome Theatre when a double feature bill will be presented. The main attraction is "0. U. West," with Lefty Flynn in the main role. This is a Western drama. The cleansing winds of the open spaces rustle trough a fast-moving story of adventure ,iii,l love beyond the lofty Rockies. The ?«tory concerns the scapegrace son of a millionaire who, disowned and dishonoured, is brought back to his rightful place by a courageous girl. This great story of regeneration should appeal to picture-goers. The second attaotion — "Mumsie"—features Pauline Frederick. It is a powerful drama of mother love. A devoted mother living with her family in a French village is betrayed by her bestloved son. This is a gripping subject for Miss Frederick's talents. A notable cast, including Herbert Marshall, Nelson Keys, and Donald McCardle, supports the star. PIANO STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION. The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Piano Students' Association, held last night in the Lewis Eady Buildings, was devoted to the music of Scandinavia and Finland. The items included "Barcarolle" (Palmgrcn), played by Miss Phyllis Graham; "Romance" (Sibellius), Miss Doris Binns; "Kirgisian Dance" (Moritz), Misses Una Cleave and Ailsa Walker; "In the Hall of the Mountain King" (Grieg), Misses M. and J. Parker; "Echoes of "Scandinavia" (Conn), Mr. Roy Collins. An amusing competition resulted in a win for Miss Una Cleave. Arrangements were made for the forthcoming bridge afternoon. "COLOURS OF THE SKY." Sunset glow, twilight, night luminescence and "ordinary", double and triple and even "white" rainbows are among the interesting phenomena which will be described and illustrated with demonstrations and lantern slides by Mr. D. Brown. B.Sc., lecturer in physics, in the University Hall, on' Wednesday evening.
