Mr W. G. Lemmon, secretary of the Bay of Plenty Co-operative Dairy Association, gives the figures for the elsvQii months of the dairying season, ending May 31 1929. During this period the butter manufactured was 1477 tons 18cwt, as against 1279 tons Bcwt for the corresponding period of last season. . The payout to suppliers for the same period this season was £203,940, an increase ■ over 1927-28 season's figures of £160,583 by £43,303, approximate y 27 per cent. For the mouth of May, 1929, the amount of butterfat received was U(5,4531b, and the amount to be distributed to suppliers on thtf 20th inst. is £8395, as compared with figures of May, 1928, ot 128,0631b of butterfat, and £8590 respectively. . __ RECORD DAIRY SALE. The North Auckland Farmers' Cooperative, Ltd., held a ver.y successful sale of dairy cows at Pakaraka, when they disposed of Mr. Fell's herd that put up a Dominion record of 400.231b of butterfat in 278 clays under test. This resulted in a very large attendance of buyers from the surrounding district, who were keen bidders, resulting in the record price of £18 4/ per head for 50 cows of a JerseyShorthorn cross. Each cow's record of last season's test was supplied. The highest prices obtained were £26 and £25. OPOTIKI HERD TESTING. The fifth annual meeting of the Opotiki Herd Testing Association was held on Thursday. The president stated that two groups operated during the past season. The Opotiki group contained 23 herds, with a total of 1493 tested. The Waiotahi group contained 27 herds, with a total of 1529 cows tested. The total for thn association was 50 herds, with a total of 3022 cows, making an average of 60 cows per herd. The milk and butterfat production for nine monthly, periods was: lib. Milk. Lb. Fat.
