DESTROYED BY FIRE.

HOUSE AT MATTUREWA. MINOR CITY OUTBREAK. Fire destroyed an eight-roomed house in Weymouth Road, Manurewa, last evening. There being neither fire brigade nor water facilities in the district, the flames could not be checked, and the building was gutted. Surrounded by .trees and with the nearest neighbour some 200 yards distant, the place, which was 30 years old and very dry, was well ablaze before it was noticed. , The ceiling of an outhouse of premises at 11, Vincent Street, City, was , -lightly damaged by fire on Saturday i evening. The house was owned and f occupied by Mr. V. Blanfried. It is ! thought that the cause was the flaring j up of a gas jet placed near the roof. CLOTHING SHOP DAMAGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. A fire broke out in Sehneideman's clothing shop in Willis Street about eight o'clock last evening. The brigade soon ] had the flames extinguished, but consider- ! able damage was caused to the stock and fittings by fire, smoke and water. The main structure was not greatly damaged. HOUSE PAETLY GUTTED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Fire occurred at 10.40 last evening in a five-roomed house in Clarke Street, occupied by Mr. S. R. Dickie and family and" owned by Nurse Dunstan, of Hamilton. The "sitting room was gutted and the furniture was gractically destroyed. The remaining portion of the house was damaged by smoke and water. Mrs. Dickie was awakened by the roar of fire, and her husband gave the alarm. The brigade were promptly on the scene, and made a go#l save of the building. There was no insurance either on the building or contents. The damage done to the contents is estimated at £150.
