The first round of the Bell Cup competition, played on St. Andrew's links on Saturday by members of the Hamilton Golf Club resulted as follows: —Black- defeated Wynne, 2 and 1; Rutherford defeated W. D. Ross 4 and 3 ; Bindon defeated Beveridge, 3 and 2; East defeated O'Grady, 2 and 1 ; Money defeated Wake, 4 and 3; Kees and Gunn, all square; Griffiths defeated Allen, 6 and 4; Tompkins defeated Strang, 1 up; Bcehan defeated W. Ross, 4 and 3 : Fisher defeated Norton, jun., 3 and 1; Rawson defeated Blaokifi, 2 up; Simpson and Eggleston, all square; Wilkes and Cleary, all square; Hogben defeated Sutcliffe, 1 up; Horton, sen., won from Atkins by default.
