IN HIKUBANGI DISTBICT. 'TOR SETTLERS TO DECIDE." (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this'day. When a deputation ot" Mania settlers to-clav made a request to the Minister of Education for improved playing facilities at the local school, they sought information as to the possibility of u consolidated school being established at Hikurangi, six miles from the settlement. They said they did not desire to spend money on improvements if there was a likelihood of the school being closed. • Mr. A. Bums, chairman of the Education Board, explained that the matter was one for the settlers. If the committees interested in the scheme to consolidate th© schools were iinanimous the board would grant their request.
