The engine-drivers' and firemen:-;' decision to close all the pits means the withdrawal of the safety men from all the collieries throughout New South AVales. It was agreed not to put the decision to strike into effect for the time being so as not to prejudice negotiations for settlement.
Mr. Browne, counsel for the unions, has submitted proposals for a conference to the Government, employers and unions. The environs of most of the northern mines were deserted yesterday. The Hebourn collieries continue to be picketed.
STRIKERS' ATTACKS.
Two Timber Workers Brutally
Kicked.
SERIOUSLY INJURED.
SYDNEY, June 12.
The gangs of timber strikers resumed their attacks to-day at Rozelle, where Mr. .Edward Gilkes, aged 55, and his son Archibald, 23, were brutally kicked when on the ground.
One of Mr. Gilkes' eyes was displaced and his son's spine injured and his jaw broken. The four attackers ran away.

The executive committee of. the Minors' International Federation continued its session in London to-day and the proposal was approved that at the International Labour Conference, to be held in 1930, the question of unemployment in the coal industry should be considered. It was decided to hold the next meeting of the executive either at Madrid or Geneva at the end of September.
