ARCHITECT PROTESTS.

HOSPITAL BOARD'S ACTION

LETTER MERELY RECEIVED

Surprise was created at the decision of the Waikato Hospital Board at its last meeting to dispense with the services of Mr. J. W. Warren, who had been architect to the board for 20 years.

Mr. Warren, in a letter to the board to-day, said that the board's resolution was one which would seriously affect his professional prestige. He did not think the board had properly realised this, neither did lie think the board desired to do him such incalculable harm. He regretted he was was not permitted to interview the hoard at the time the resolution was passed. He submitted the following proposals, hoping the board would see the justice of them:—(l) That the board withdraw its resolution and allow him to complete the work he had in hand, specifically, the erection of the maternity block; (2) that he forthwith tender his resignation to enable the board to appoint another architect at once; (3) that he give the new architect' all assistance and information in respect to the buildings at the board's various hospitals, hand over all useful details and plans, and do everything in his power to facilitate his work. Without discussion the letter.was received.

Mr. A. Mac Donald, of Hamilton, was appointed architect.
