NO RESIDENT JUDGE.
INCONVENIENCE. IN DUNEDIN.
(By Tclegrapji.—Own Correspondent.)
DUNEDIN, Wednesday,
For nearly ten months —since the death of Sir William Sim in August last —Dunedin has been without a resident member of the Supreme Court Bench, and during the whole of that time the periodical sittings of the Court have been presided over by visiting judges. Delay and inconvenience have been caused.
The Otago Law Society has endeavoured to secure the restoration of this district to its proper status as the seat of a resident judge, but ao far the best assurance which it has been able to obtain is that in all probabilicy Mr. Justice Kennedy will be resident in Dunedin next year.
