CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND GUN CLUB,
Members of the Auckland Gun Club held a series of matches yesterday under wintry conditions. ■. The first four birds match resulted in a tie between J. Donnelly, I. Lomas, W. E. Grant, on lSyds, and S. Roberts and A. M. Bartley. on 10yds, with three each. Donnelly won the shoot off. „■■■», ~ The chief match, for Mr. R. H. Montgomery's trophy resulted in an outright win for J. Donnelly, lSyds. with the possible of 10. D. S. Ewing, 17ydS, being runner-up with 0. These were two excellent performances. Donnelly only used his second barrel once, and Ewing shot all birds with first barrels. A first miss out sweep was divided by D. S Ewing and A. M. Bartley. The last shoot of the season will be held on June 29.
