The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Mr. George Rhodes presiding over a large attendance of delegates.

On the motion of the chairman, a vote of condolence to Mr. A. Freeman, on the death of his brother, was passed, all present standing. The Auckland Football Association wrote asking for support of a deputation to approach the City Council regarding thefts at sports grounds. A committee was appointed to act. _ , The Otago League sought information about the possibilities of a visit from an Auckland team this season. It was decided to state that a local team would not tour South but that Auckland had pleasure in inviting an Otago team to Auckland.

Ruby (Devonport) and Courtney (Marist Old Boys), ordered off last Saturday, were cautioned, and the case of Cook (Ellerslie) was deferred, _ pending his appearance before the Judicial Committee.

The following transfers were approved:—o. Cronin and F. M. Nasey, Marist Old Boys to Point Chevalier; Edward Paltrid'ge, Kingsland Athletic to Northcote; W. Johnson, from South Auckland to Ellerslie; C. Dufty, from Newton to Ellerslie; and Lindsay E. Watson (second grade), Devonport to Parnell senior B.

Mr. W. Davidson, in giving notice of motion that no player be admitted back to the code for the second time, stated that the sister code had a similar rule. He mentioned that Littlewood had "turned over" for the fourth time, and this sort of thing should be stopped. FOOTBALL "BUBBLE."

NO CHARGE AGAINST DUFTY.

EXECUTIVE CONSIDERS I^ATTER

ELLERSLIE GETS THE PLAYER.

The flutter of mild excitement created about C. Dufty, the well-known fullback, whose affiliation with the Newton Club had been reported, was briefly before the Auckland Rugby League last evening, the result being approval of Dufty's transfer to the Ellerslie Club. A request that standing orders be suspended to deal with the application being acceded to, the chairman (Mr. George Rhodes) informed the Ellerslie delegate (Mr. Foster) that being a member of the League, a transfer was essential if Dufty wanted to play with another club. Mr. Davidson: I maintain that being no longer a member of Newton Club, Dufty is free to play for any club. Mr. Mincham: Yes, that is my opinion. He does not require a transfer. The Chairman: There is no need for any argument. I rule that no club can expel a man from the League. Mr. Henry (Newton) said he thought it- might be advisable to go into committee.

Mr. Davidson repeated that Dufty's cancellation automatically entitled him to play with any club he desired. In view of publicity given the matter he thought the business should be openly discussed. There was nothing to hide.

Mr. Foster said he had the transfer application. Mr. I. Culpan pointed out that the advisory committee had made inquiry into the matter and a report was available.

Mr. Solomon: I move "That the Newton Club's correspondence be read and that we go into committee." Mr. Longbottom seconded. Several members questioned the wisdom of compelling too drastic an "in committee" interpretation, remarking that there was nothing against Dufty but allegations. Mr. Longbottom: The motion is that we go into committee, and we meau "committee." It is unfair to the man to ventilate a lot of rumour which cannot be proved. The m»&on was carried by nine votes to seven.

The chairman subsequently reported that the League had nothing before it to warrant any action regarding Dufty.

The player in question, who was present during the evening, upon being advised that his transfer had been approved, left the meeting.

SENIOR B GAMES.

TWO KEEN CONTESTS.

PARNELL ON THE IMPROVE. COMMENTS ON THE PLAY. The second round in the senior B grade competition opened with two splendid games when Point Chevalier played Northcote and Otahuhu won a great game against Richmond. Parnell had all the best of the play against Mangere, which was defeated by 33 points to 14

The matcii at Otahuliu drew a fine crowd which was rewarded with a firstclass exhibition of the code. More such games will do a lot towards more firmly establishing the code in surrounding districts. It has been often stated that visiting teams have been subjected to "barracking" from spectators, but on Saturday .Richmond's clean, open football was warmly applauded. It was easily the best game seen at Ot'ahuhu for a long time. Otahuliu were first to registur points, when Harris scored for Phillips to convert, just five minutes from the kick-off. Then Farrell got over, and Ot'ahuhu led 8 points to nil at half-time. In the second half Richmond put up a splendid showing, and delighted the spectators with fast open play. Both backs and forwards threw the ball about in good style. Otahuhu, however, had a strong pack—too sturdy for Richmond's lighter set. Levy scored a try for Otahuhu, and Eustace goaled. The game ended in Otahuhu's favour, 13 to nil. Richmond was by no means disgraced, and later on may provide a few surprises. For Otahuhu, Levy played an outstanding game, and ably led the forwards. Jury and Conway were also prominent in the loose. Phillips played a grand game at full-back. His fielding

and kicking were high class. Farrcll and Eustace used their pace to 'advantage, while Harris got through a lot of useful work.

"The best seen for years," was the general opinion of spectators at the Point Chevalier-Northcote game. Northcote put up a great light against the grade leaders, who were fully extended to win by 5 points to 3. Point were considerably strengthened by the inclusion of Cronin, late of Marist, a solid halfback, who has played fairly well in the A grade. Monaghan scored and kicked n, goal for Point, while Duncan added

" Torthcote's three points. Both teams are to.be congratulated for their splendid showing. Point's forwards carried the honours. For Point, Cronin played a useful game behind the, scrum, his experience being noticeable when matters went against his side. Monaghan and Lane did 'a lot' of useful work at five-eighths. McLaren was the best of the three-quarters. His pace saved Point from possible defeat. Goodwin and Kindley stood out among a wellbalanced scrum.

Parnell had a day out against Manjrere, who were outclassed by the town thirteen. The winners showed excellent combination, and promise to improve as the competition advances. Parnell have not had the best of luck this season, but a well-organised committee is slowly getting a strong team together. Kerr showed improved football at full-back.. besides addimr three goals to Parnell's total. The three-nuarters were in good form, and some effective work was witnessed on attack. Ciimpney was the best, while Hosking and McLaren played well. Anderson was the best of the backs, his nlay at five-eights being excellent. Kelly and Little paved the way for several tries. Ritchie, and Sloman were the pick of the forwards.
