Members of the council of land Automobile Association ihg disagreed with the Mam Highways Board's decision to recommend adherence to the existing main highway through : Dl S* Highways that it l was in accord with the Council's proposal to reconstruct the new road along the present route, mth a deviation at the south end to improve alignment. , . , , „„ Mr. M. H. Wynyard, motorists representative on the Main Highways Board, said the board had given exhaustive consideration to the proposals, and had been influenced by the fact that if a new route was taken, the old road would also have to be maintained,
