BLUEJACKET'S DEATH.
STOKER FROM VERONICA.
LAST SEEN AT RACES
The body of a bluejacket, floating in the harbour, was seen this morning by one of the crew of the cable ship Iris. A boat put off and recovered the body, which was that of Albert Edward Dunkley, aged 20, a stoker on H.M.s. Veronica. Dunkley, whose wife resides at Devonport, was an Imperial rating and should have gone Home with other members of the Veronica last week. He had been reported as an absentee from his ship s.'nee Wednesday last. He was last seen at the Ellerslie races on June 5. The body was brought to the city morgue. An inquest will be held. A verdict of found drowned was returned by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at an inquest this afternoon. A brother-in-law, Joseph Connolly, said that Dunkley was born in England, and had been in New Zealand over live years. He was a married man with a child eleven months old. He was at the races on June 1. As far as witness knew, he had no worries. Dunkley and his wife were to have returned to England on June (i, and a farewell party had been arranged.
