HERNE BAY BURGLARY.

WALLACE STREET HOUSE.

THIEF STEALS £13.

JEWELLERY LEFT BEHIND,

Entering the dwelling of Mr. George Tanner, at 29 Wallace Street, Heme Bay, last night, a burglar stole £13 in notes from clothes left hanging in a wardrobe.

When Mr. and Mrs. Tanner and their daughter and nephew returned from a theatre last night at 11.20, they found the front door wide open. A front room window- was also open. The thief had evidently gained entrance by lifting- the window, leaving by the front door, which he did not even bother to close. The intruder was evidently not of the amateur variety. He, stole nothing but money, although he opened several jewel boxes and drawers which contained valuables. While not ransacked, each room in the house was thoroughly overhauled for money.

Mr. Tanner's nephew, at present here on holiday, was an unfortunate victim of the burgfar, for he lost two five pound notes, which he had left in his clothes in the wardrobe. The other £3 in single notes were stolen by the thief from the clothes of Mr. Tanner, in another room.
