AUCKLAND'S HEALTH.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES BETURN. OVER 100 DECREASE FOR MONTH.

According to reports received by the Auckland Health Office there has been a decrease of 133 cases of infectious diseases last month, as compared with April. The total number of cases during May was 360, as against 493 in the preceding month. There was a decrease in dysentery, while pneumonia cases doubled. Pneumonic influenza appeared to be on the increase, while diphtheria cases were'still numerous.

Following are the particulars of all cases of infectious disease in the Auckland health district reported last month:

Central Health District— Scarlet fever, 57; diphtheria, 48; enteric fever, 1; tuberculosis, 22; cerebro spinal meningitis, 1; influenza (pneumonic), 12; pneumonia, 17; erysipelas, 10; puerperal fever (following abortion or miscarriage), 5; eclampsia, 1; dysentery, 19; total, 193 cases.

North Auckland Health District.— Scarlet fever, 14; diphtheria, 3; enteric fever, 4; tuberculosis, 8; cerebro spinal meningitis, 1; influenza (pneumonic), 4; pneumonia, 5; puerperal fever (following abortion or miscarriage), 1; eclampsia, lj lethargip encephalitis, 1; dysentery, 5; total, 47 cases.

Thamea-Tauranga Health District.— Scarlet fever, 20; diphtheria, 2; pneumonia, 3; erysipelas, 2; tetanus, 1; dysentery, 4; total, 32 cases.

South Auckland District. — Scarlet fever, 29; diphtheria, 10; enteric fever, 7; tuberculosis, 8; influenza (pneumonic), 2; pneumonia, 5; puerperal fever, 2; eclampsia, 1; dysentery, 16; trachoma, 2; total, 88 cases.
