1 Naturalists are greatly interested in the winter store of a weasel, discovered when a large poplar was being sliced in a sawmill. No fewer than 44 mice had been carefully stocked one above the other, in an ordered pile, with sand and mould between them, to form an airtight mound. The mice were in as fresh condition as if they had just been caught. Two magpies had been placed on top of them, and a" large collection of acorns filled the hollowed-out cavity to the entrance, which was just large enough for the weasel to slip inside.
