A SPLENDID MEMORIAL OF JOHN CONSTABLE-1776-1836

FLATFORD MILL, in Suffolk, wai famous as the birthplace of John Constable, the father of modern landscape painting, and now Mr. and Mrs. Parkington have presented the Mill Estate to the nation in memory of the great English painter. Out of the funds derived from the estate three scholarships are to be endowed, one each for English, Scottish and French artists. In the old mill there are six studios for young students, and the miller's house and Willie Lett's cottage are being used as hostels.
