Notice is hereby given that the Devonport Borough Council in pursuance ol its powers unaer the Municipal Corporations Vet 1920, the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1920, the Rating Act, 11)2." i'.nd all other powers enabling it in that behalf intends on WEDNESDAY, the 10th day of June, 1920, to make and levy for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1929, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1030 : — 1. A GENERAL RATE of 2 3-16 d in. the 2. Wilson, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may from time to time be appointed to collect the same. The Estimates upon which the rates are being struck having been approved by the Council remain open for inspection in the Council Chambers, Marine Square, 1/evonport. The Rate Books and Valuation Rolls are open for inspection in the Council Chambers, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on all business days of the week except Saturd-ays when the said Rate LJjoks and Valuation Rolls are open for inspection between the hours of !• a.m. and 12 noon. 5. A COMBINED INTEREST RATE of 4 5-ltid in the £ on the Unimproved Rateable Value of all rateable properties within the Borough of Devonport made for the providing of interest and sinking funds on Special Loans, will be payable us aforesaid for the period above mentioned. 0. STANLEY BAY RESERVE LOAN SPECIAL RATING AREA : A rate of Jd in the £ on the Unimproved Value of oach property in the Stanley Bay Reserve Special Rating Area, on account of the annual recurring special rate of gd for interest and sinking fund on loans of £2200, will be payable for the period above mentioned, and be payable as aforesaid on the 17th day of July, 1929. 7. IOTO, the following water charges and rates : — (1) Where water is supplied .by meter: (a) In respect of Ordinary Supply as denned by Clause 200 of Bylaw No. 1. 192G, the sum of One Shilling and 'Sixpence per thousand gallons with a minimum rate of 7/t> (Seven shillings and sixpence) per half-year, except that where charge is based on reading of old meters (not in operation), the minimum charge shall be Fifteen Shillings per half-year. (b) In respect of meters supplied by the Council an annual charge of 7/(5, payable at the rate of 3/9 per half-year in accordance with Clause 4 of By-law No. 1, 1928. (2) Where water is not supplied by meter: In respect to Ordinary Supply— upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied the annual rateable value of which fls appearing on the Valuation Rolls docs not exceed £25, a rate of Ten Shillings—exceeding £25 a rate of 2 per cent on such value; with an additional charge in terms of Clause 201, of By-law No. 1. 102 G. of 10/ (Ten Shillings) per annum for each water closet cistern. The above water charges and rates to bepayable in every -case in two half-yearly instalment, the first upon the Ist day of October. 1929. and the second upon the Ist day of April. 3 030. (:'.) NON - CONSUMERS' WATER RATES: Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not supplied, situated within 100 yds from any part of the waterworks, a rato not exceeding onehalf of the rates above mentioned, such rates to be for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 3 920. and ending on the 33 st day of March, 1930, and .such rate to be payable in one sum on the Ist day of October, 1929. The above water charges and rates to be payable in each case to Alfred Ernest Wilson, the Council's Collector, or such other person as may be from time to time appointed to collect same. REBATE OX RATES. Tn accordance with Section 04 of the Rating Act. 1925. the Council has resolved that a rebate of £5 per centum be allowed to every Ratepayer on the total amount of .seneral and special rates payable by him (excluding ireter rajps and charges), if such rates be paid within thirty de.ys from the due date thereof.
