Waiomo Sulphide.—The north drive on the Zeehan reef was extended 20ft, making a total of lS4ft north of No. 1 crosscut east The reef has been somewhat, disturbed, but the present face is in solid ciuartz, and a general improvement in the conditions is apparent. Preparations have been completed for the commencement of the main rise. The manager has been able to examine the workings on the Zeehan reef at Nos. 1, 3 and 4 levels, and on the Birthdav reef at No. 2 level, where ore has .been- opened.up in readiness for stopin.- In the latter section free milling or£ Showing free' gold exists Operations in this section will be resumed during the coniiPg week. The excavations for the installation of the new air-compressing nlant are almost complete, and the contractors will be enabled to proceed with its erection during the ensuing _week. The mill construction work is being pushed ahead, vigorously during the fine weather, and>thev heavy;concrete-walling- is*:-almost complete.
