POWER BOARD'S TRADING.

MINISTER FOR RESTRICTION. POLICY MATTER INVOLVED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The competition of power supply authorities with private enterprise in the sale of electrical appliances was the subject of a deputation to the Minister of Public Works. Hon. E. A. Kansom, from the Electrical Federation, comprising those engaged in the trade. The Minister agreed with the deputation that it was fair that competition between power boards and private enterprise should be confined to reasonable limits. He said he would see what could be done in regard to depriving boards of the right to trade. That was a policy matter and the' deputation's representations would be noted should a bill Be brought down later. He agreed that all power boards should be required to keep books showing clearly their financial position and audited and open to public inspection. He was not in favour of anything that lent itself to unfair competition or that did not disclose quite clearly to the public what was being done.
