RALLY OF CHURCHMEN.
SERVICE IN THE TOWN HALL.
SOCIAL WORK IN DIOCESE
To mark the ninth anniversary of the founding of the Anglican City Mission, and to provide an opportunity for rallying the combined strength of the forces which operate the Church of England's social work in the diocese, a mass service will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow evening. To make possible a large, attendance the Anglican churches in the city have been authorised to shorten evensong.
At 7.30 a recital of * : ?,cred music will be given by the City J sion choir. Fiveminute talks will be m Aspersed by the Rev. H. K. Cickery, on the work of the Mission to Seamen, the Rev. Gordon Bell, on the Order of the Good Shepherd, the Rev. G. C. Cruickshank, on the work of St. Mary's Homes, and Mr. Julius Hogben, on the work of the City Mission. Mr. C J. Tunks will also speak.
The service proper will commence at 8 o'clock. This will be conducted by Archbishop Av'erill and a combined choir of 300 voices will sing several anthems. The collection is to bs for the support of the men's shelter which has been established by the City Mission.
