CHARGE FOR TELEPHONE.

THREEPENCE THOUGHT TOO HIGH,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

MORRINSVILLE, Friday,

At last evening's meeting of the Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce, the Postmaster-General advised that a telephone slot machine would be installed at the railway station. The charge would have to be 3d, as it was considered the estimated return from one penny per call would 'be considerably short of the minimum revenue required.

Members took exception to the 3d charge, considering that tne Department was°going the wrong way to ensure revenue, but could not see that anything further could be done in the matter.
