TWENTY-TWO WAIHI MEN.

RELIEF WORK GIVES OUT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Twenty-two of the Waihi unemployed who were placed on tho Waihi-Whanga-mata Road works, following a promise made by the Minister of Public Works when in Waihi, were paid-off this morning, after working a little over thrpo weeks. The reason given for their dismissal Avas that no further work had been authorised or was available at present. The Mayor and the secretary of the Workers' Union are appealing to Mr. Samuel, member for the district, to obtain relief on behalf of the men.
