HAWERA, this day.

Following the burglary at the New Plymouth shop of C. C. Ward, Ltd., a little over a week ago, when £300 in money was stolen, the Hawera branch of the firm received attention last week-end. The thief or thieves were not so successful, only £3 3/11 being secured. The safe, which contained a large sum of money, received attention, but it resisted efforts made to open it. From the office till the thief took 240 pennies and £2 3/ in silver.
