The demand for apples, both dessert and cookers, has shown an improvement this week, and fancy lines have been bringing better prices. Pears still remain dull of sale. Hothouse tomatoes are selling well. Prices have advanced during the past few days, extra choice lines realising above the general quotations. There is a good demand for hothouse grapes and also for Island oranges. 4 small shipment of Sydney fruit arrived during the week. Navel oranges brought 12/ to 18/ per case according? to eize and condition; passions, 22/ to 20/; pines. 19/ to 22/; grapes, 12/6 to 22/ according to condition and the size ot the package. Current quotations are:— Potatoes, Southern, 7/6 to 8/ cwt; local 3/6 to 4/6 bag; onions, 3/ to o/6 bag; kumaras, 3/ to 4/6 bag; cabbage, 2/ to 8/ sack; cauliflower, 6/ to 16/ sack; swedes, 1/6 to 2/6 bag; pumpkins, 4/ to 3/ cwt; beans, 6/ to 10/ bag; lettuce, 1/ to 3/ case; vegetable marrows, 2/ to 3/ doz: citron melons, 2/ to 4/ sack; cabbage, on benches, 1/6 to 3/ doz; cauliflowers, on benches, 4d to 1/2 each; celery, 1/ to 5/6 bundle; rhubarb, 1/6 to 2/ doz; spinach, 3d to 9d doz; pumpkins, on benches, 4d to 1/ each; spring onions, 2d to 6d bundle; radishes, 6d doz; carrots, parsnips, beet, and turnips. 6d to 9d doz; leeks, 3d to 4d bundle; chokos, 1/6 doz.
