CUP TIE SOCCER.

TO-MORROW'S FIXTURES.

SENIOR A AND B TEAMS MEET

BRIGHT GAMES LIKELY.

Senior Soccer to-morrow afternoon will be the first round of the Chatham Cup contest to find the Auckland candidate to represent the code in the battle for the club championship of New Zealand and twelve entries have' been received from the A. and B. sections of the division. The draw has brought about several interesting contests, but foremost of these will be the fixtures on Blandford Park between Thistle and Y.M.C.A. at 1.30, and Ponsonby and Celtic as the principal match. It may prove to be an error of judgment on the part of the authorities in not reversing the arrangement, for Thistle and Y.M. seem capable of putting up a much more thrilling struggle than the others, and a game in which the standard of play can be expected to be much higher, but in any case both matches will be well worth seeing. .While Y.M. impressed very much last week against Trams, and Thistle have not been" "setting the heather on lire" of late, it would be a great mistake to prefer the Y.M. to the Scots, who have an aggregation of very clever players and are noted cup-tie lighters. The most likely occurrence is that at the end of !)0 minutes the teams will require to play extra time, an eventuality that would complicate matters'in the second game. The result is very much in the sphere of uncertainties and a rousing game seems the only sure forecast.

I'oiisonby iire noted cup-tie fighters, and they may just manage to scrape through against Celtic, while other senior A teams that will find difficulty in entering round two will be Belmont against Manurcwa, and Oneluinga iij'.ainst Bon Accord. Tramways cannot afford to lake matters easy against Corinthians, and Bangers and Northcote should provide a hard and fast game. The subsequent rounds till the final it is intended will he played as week-night attractions under electric light. Teams: — BELMONT. Seniors.-—Wylie, Bach (2), Kemp. Woodnil, Lithgnw.
