WARNED OFF GROUNDS.

MAORI PLAYER'S OFFENCE. CHARGE AGAINST A REFEREE. (From Our Own Correpondent.) TE KUITI, Thursday. At a meeting of the management committee of the. Maniapoto Rugby Union last night a local native, named Serancki, tor making a false charge against a referee and for abusive language on the football field, was warned off all grounds under the jurisdiction of the Rugby Union for a period of two years. For aiding and abetting Serancki in the charge against the referee by signing a false declaration, another native named Wi was suspended for a period of twelve months.

The trouble arose in connection with a recent match played between two native? teams in the competitions, Hangatiki and Nehenehenul. After a keen contest the game resulted in a draw. For insubordination, the Te Kuiti second grade team was requested to appear before the union to show cause why that team should not be disqualified from further participation in the season's competitions. The latter trouble is in connection with a refusal of the Te Kuiti juniors to play against Aria—after that team had travelled twenty-five miles to meet them — owing to an alteration in the venue of the game by the union.
