SATURDAY'S MATCHES.

PONSONBY TO PLAY CITY, INTER-ISLAND MATCH DATE. CANTERBURY'S CHALLENGE. Members of the Auckland Eugby League"* management committee met last evening. It was reported that the annual interisland match would be played at Auckland on September 7. It was also reported that the Australian Board of Control had advised the council that the possibility of playing a match between Australia and Auckland at Auckland on the former team's tour to England would be considered in the near future. Application was made for financial assistance toward the expenses of a junior representative team's tour. The matter was referred to a sub-committee. The committee decided to donate one guinea to the school's cocoa fund. An invitation for an Auckland team to play Canterbury for the Northern Union Challenge Cup "at Christchurch later in the season was received from the Canterbury Rugby League. The meeting decided that'the advisory committee's report that the- Auckland League should not tour this season lie adhered to, but it was suggested that Canterbury play Auckland, at Auckland, and that the challenge be lodged through the New Zealand League. The transfer of T. Peckham from Ponsonby to Newton was approved.
