NOTES FROM ELLERSLIE.

THIS MORNING'S WORK. NUMBER OF VISITING HORSES ARRIVE. The following trainers arrived yesterday at Ellerslie: G. Reid (Lucy Rose), R. B. Hines (Queen Arch and King Lu), A. J. Monde (Marble Kins). -7. Hanks (Flitter), H. I. Spinks (Billikins and Ohinemuri), A. Cook (Leitrim), T. Parkinson (Mosque), G. Paul (Just Nell and Awarerc), R. Martin (Te Waka), T. Morriss (Taumai). The No. 3 grass track was open at Ellerslie this morning for fast work, but there was not a greal deal doing. Mangani and Gold Rep, after cnntoriiig once round on the sand, sprinted home from tho four-furlong post in 53 4-se. The first-named is looking in {rood order and worked well. Karanni sprinted four furlongs in 55 4-ss, and Bizarro and Diamond Quern ran three furlongs in 41s. Marble King completed a similar task in 40 2-os. Mister Gamp and Seatown were allotted a round, which they covered in 1.49 1-5, the last seven furlongs being run in 1.39. Bisox, Archeria and Otairi were sent over six furlongs, running the distance in 1.22. Bisox, who carried a very light weight, pleased most. King Smook was timed to run home from the six-furlong post in 1.22 1-5. Queen Arch and King Lu cantered round to the three-furlong peg and sprinted homo in 41s, both doing it nicely. Comical and Red Fuchsia were also given strong work on this track. Overhaul completed a round in 1.50 2-5, Master Arch taking 1.5 C over a similar journey. Sulla finished in front of Young Thurn-' ham over a round, which occupied 1.49. Kauri Park and Te Waka both worked satisfactorily over the same distance. Roman Abbey and King's Guard were timed to run seven furlongs in 1.42 3-5. Atapai, who looks none the worse for her fall yesterday, galloped four furlongs in 53 4-ss. Te Waka (Forbes) gave a promising display over a couple of hurdles. The Wingatui trainer, F. Shaw, is having a very unfortunate spin. Umtali struck himself while schooling the other morning and is still sore and unlikely to race at the meeting. Kapuna has also been showing signs of soreness, and, aithough he may not start in the Greenlane Steeplechase to-morrow, his trainer has hopes of giving him a run at the meeting. Kilburn has not been noticed -working at Ellerslie during the week and there is some doubt about him starting in the Great Northern Hurdle Race. War Officer is sore as the result of his fall while schooling yesterday and is not likely to run in the Penrose Hurdle Race, while Bizarro was also showing signs of lameness after working this morning. Mosque has arrived to fulfil his engagement in the Cornwall Handicap and ho looks in capital condition. He was worked on the No. 3 grass track this morning and hit out very freely. No rider has yet been engaged for him. SCRATCHINGS. : Prince of Orange was withdrawn from the first division of the Jervois Handicap at 12.50 p.m. to-day.
