RAIL MOTOR COACH.
ITALIAN INVENTION. The Fiat Company, of Turin, ha« recently introduced an interesting- rail motor conch equipped with «'i six-cylinder vertical 'Diesel engine, developing 180 house-power, which is used to generate electricity, and drives the coach through electric motors coupled to the axles. The coach is nearly 60ft long over the buffers, it accommodates 53 passengers, has a luggage compartment and a postal compartment. It can be driven from either end by one man, the controls being similar to those on an ordinary tram car. The weight in full running, order is 44 tons, the maximum speed is 35 miles per hour, and the maximum gradient that can be climbed with full Toad is lin 25.
