MOTOR RACING.
INCREASING POPULARITY. The past season has 'seen a number of new racing clubs formed and the opening of Mr. Geo. Herring's dirt track. This is ideally suited for cars,,and after some improvements will permit fast speeds next summer. The afternoon's outing to Mangere is an attraction in itself, and with a raco meeting once a month enthusiasts should not tire of the sport. In the motor cycle division a number of Aucklanders have formed a club which will race on the new stadium built by the City Council at Western Springs. This ground has been constructed for all types of sport, and the motor cycle track will' not interfere with any other but the proceeds will materially assist the council to make the ground self-supporting.
