OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
MAUDLIN SENTIMENTALITY. The executive of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, at a meeting yesterday, passed a resolution emphatically protesting against "the maudlin sentimentality of some recent Supreme Court juries in their recommendations to leniency when dealing with grave sexual offenders, their apparent lack of appreciation of the gravity of the offences, and the life-long moral injury inflicted upon the unfortunate victims." j
