SURPLUS LABOUR.
RAILWAY HANDS DISMISSED. FIFTY MEN" AFFECTED. The unemployed market in Auckland has been added to by the fact that 50 men employed as casual workers at the Otahuhu railway workshops have been dismissed, and concluded their work on ■Saturday. The men affected were included in the emergency casual division, whose services could be dispensed with at a moment's notice. They were taken on to cope with a shortage of trucks. None of the permament or permanent casual staff are affected.
