FARMERS' UNION.
WAIKATO EXECUTIVE MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Friday. The Waikato sub-provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union met to-day, the chairman, Mr. S. R. Cox, presiding. . . . A remit received from the provincial secretary of the union urged that the Farmers' Union should press for adequate compensation in cases where hedges had been compulsorily eradicated under the Fireblight Act. No resolution was passed. As the Waikato is not a fruitgrowing area it would not be directly affected by the question of compensation.. It was decided to support remits objecting to the constitution of the Motor : Transport Advisory Council on the ground that farmeers ar not adequately represented upon it. The Te Rore branch suggested that cattle dealers were attempting to make a corner in springing heifers, and urged that the Farmers' Union should cooperate to keep down prices. It was decided to ask the Te Rore branch to send a delegate to a meeting of the, Waikato branch to. explain .the position.
