LITTLE GIRL'S DEATH.
D DOWN BY MOTOR CAR. dr:\ek committed for trial The inquest touching the death of Diana Victoria Menzies, aged 3J years, who was knocked down and killed by a motor car in Lucerne Road, Remuera. about 4 pm. on April 19. was concluded by the coroner. Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M.. at the Police Court late yesterday afternoon. The driver of the car. Francis Clarence Beresford Power (IS), was charged with negligent driving, thereby causing the child's death. The hearing of the inquest and the preliminary trial of accused were taken simultaneously. Chief Detective Hammond appeared for the police, while Power was renresented by Mr. Wills. Mr. R. R. Bell" watched the interests of the child's father. Mr. Hunt returned a verdict that the child died as the result of a fractured skull, caused by being knocked down and run over by a motor car driven by Power. On the charge of negligent driving, Power, who pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence, was committed for trial at the Supreme Court. He was allowed bail, in one surety of £100.
