THE SHOOTING SEASON.

SPORT EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD IN BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT. LARGE BAGS SECURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE PUKE, tlxis day. The opening of the shooting season in the Bay of Plenty yesterday proved very successful, game being more plentiful this season than during previous years. Good bags were secured at Matata and on the upper reaches of the Waihi estuary, many sportsmen returning with a full quota of game. The sport in these districts has been exceptionally good, both ducks and pheasants being plentiful. Sport is scarce in the region of Papamoa. A few pheasants were shot yesterday, but practically no ducks.
