SOME TALL SCORING. BY TRAMWAYS AND Y.M, THISTLE AND PONSONBY WIN. Soccer fixtures on Saturday were characterised by tall scoring at Victoria Park and the Domain. Tramways overwhelmed Belmont to the tune of seven goals to one, in a game in which the defeated side was outplayed in all departments. Celtic, after their surprise defeat last Saturday by North Shore, found Y.M.C.A. too much for them and lite Young Men had little difficulty in taking full points by four clear goals. Thistle had to play hard for the points a,. Onehunga against the locals, who put up a plucky fight, while the game on Biandford Park between Pousonby and North Shore, which was of a disappointing nature, resulted in a win for the city team by the odd goal in three. PONSONBY GET HOME. The Shore-Ponsonby match opened in anything but impressive style, and & tame first spell did not contain even the thrill of a score. Action, was more lively iu the second half, and when Innes and Stewart had collaborated in opening the score in I'onsonby's favour there was a general brightening up of the play. Ponsonby took charge momentarily and Innes added a second goal. A desperate rally by Shore took the ball into the goal-mouth from a •free, Lyon, who had intercepted the ball from the kick, being hustled through the goal, with the ball still in his possession. Despite strong efforts. Shore could not make the extra point, and Ponsonby won Y.M.'S RECOVERY. The game between Y.M.C.A. and CMtlc at the Domain was marked by a strong recovery in the second spell by Y.M.C.A. First blood was drawn by Davidson for Celtic, but after that Y.M.C.A. graduallyworked up into a winning vein and took charge, for McAuslan and Woods (3) to put their side on a win by four goals to one. BELMONT ROUTED. Tramways routed Belmont to the tune of seven goals to one. Spencer and Bell put on two coals and Tinkler one In the first spoil. Bowden put the finishing touch on a Belmont attack early in the second a pell, but Tramways again took charge and Sppncer ami Christie each added to Tramways' tally before a one-side game ended. THISTLE'S VICTORY. Botli Onehunga and Thistle played with weakened teams, the latter being two men short through the first spell, being joined in the second half by J. Rowet. sen. Honours wpre <>ven in rlie first half, a goal by Moon for Onehnnsra being followed by one for Thistle, which was netted by Cumming. Early in' the second half Kay put Thistle in the lend.
