And it ' brought such surprises as indicate sue- , cessive Saturdays of keen contests in . the struggle for the championship. Training College delighted its sup- 1 porters by conclusively defeating last year's champions, 'Varsity. Equally decisive was the downing of almost invincible Ponsonby by (I ram ma r. Both games were full of incident and went throughout at remarkable pace. Grafton accounted for College Rifles at the Show Grounds, and the newcomers to the A grade, Technical Old Boys, outlasted Marists and ran over them in the tinal spell. Manukait decisively defeated City.
