FIRST STEEPLECHASE RUN". 11l conjunction with the Auckland Rujiby League, the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club decided iw.i running events at Carlaw Park <>n Saturday, the programme consisting of a "■"> yards handicap and a one mile and a-lialf steeplechase. The sprint saw a field of nine fac* the starter. From a good dispatch A. Clarke led from Savidan and Horan. Savidan finished on best and just heat Clarke by inches, with Turn bull close up. third. Savidan had a very easy victory in the steeplechase 1 , just bowling along easy until the In«st lap, wlien he hit the front, going on to win by 15 yards.
