Tii: igU the 1111 >11 ■ r cycle which they were siding crashing int.. a train, Alexander Candli.-h. a married man, of Linwood. and Herbert (leorge Bugg. aged .'ill, of Woolston. were killed at Opawa last evening. The accident occurred at the corner near Loc;irno Street. Opawa. The tram, outward bound, having left the Square at Hi p.m.. was struck head-on by the motor cycle, 'i hc cycle was badly smashed and the front of the tram damaged. Bugg was years of age, unmarried, and a returned soldier. He was the rider of the cycle ami he wa- killed instantly, his jaw being suia.-hed. Candlish, aged 1"), died .shortly alter being admitted to hospital, lie leaves a widow and eight children, mostly adults. A tramway motorman says the cycle had 110 lights and was travelling fast. The police state that both men had been caught earlier in the evening riding tho motor cycle without a 1 iarhr. Both were returned soldiers, and Candlish had won decorations in France. Bugg was a senior League football player.
