PONIES READY.
Plethora of Talent for Blue and Blacks,
While Ponsonbv were in the limelight
throughout last season, thev were an unfortunate team in many respects, and fell short of championship honours. They have hopes of regaining their lost status this winter, however, as they will have a toterie of players who know each other* style of play, and the combination should blend happily The question of the hour so far as Ponsonbv is concerned is, "Will Pelgrosso t rn out again /" Supporters of the are sanguine about the matter, and there is little doubt that the veteran will again be stripped when
the blue and blacks tile out at headquarters for the kick-off. Delgrosso held Ponies together in wonderful fashion last year, and, by winning his wav into the New Zealand representatives, showed that there is such a thing as a "come-back" i n league. He is a valuable asset to any side, because of
his wide international know! dge. and Ponies will be relieved when they actually see him don the blue and black jersey. Others . select fro i will be Hutt, Pagan, Sehofield. Thompson, Letton, the Peckham brothers, I'ayne, Stevens, and Meehan. The last-men-tioned is a promising young player, who may have to miss the first few matches because of a recent spell in hospital. A junior, who was outstanding when he played for Newmarket, Pony supporters are painting a bright future for him. Among the newcomers there will be Kimberley, a Taranaki forH , ar< ''. anf * anot her scrum man named Clarkin, who has played Rugby in the Waikato. The indications are that the western suburbs seniors will have no difficulty in filling their ranks, but some of the lower grade teams still have a number of vacancies.
