NEWTON DOUBTFUL
Low of Players Affect» the Pro«pect».
J.he constitution of the Jscwton senior team at the moment is somewhat in doubt fur the reason that some of their best players of last season are not available. It is possible that Duftv, who lias been a sort of sheet anchor to the team, will transfer to Ellerslie, as he is now working in that district, though the matter has not been definitely decided. Hiriwini, the scintillating Maori, who combined so well with the ex-St. Stephen's College boy, Murray, has decided to sample the charms of the sister code, while that tine forward, Clarke, has gone to Christchurch. A valuable trio that has paved the way for many a Newton victory, their services will be sorely missed. However. the combination of the champions of 11)27 will not sutler to the extent that might be supposed owing to these losses, lor, in the back division, there will be Murray, Hardgravc, Little, Wilson, Butterworth and Cammick. It is stated that Wallv isomers, whom the Englishmen regarded as the best hooker°they met on tour last year, will play if required, while Henry, Jtliodes, Francis, Hall, Hammond and J'urdy will form the' nucleus of a very powerful pack. Francis was a i'onsonby liugby player last year. Jt is considered that two forwards from lapa k ura will also elect to throw in their lot with Newton.
