RICHMOND RALLYING.

Club That Has Promoted Juniors With Success. Kce:i tn bp in the frav. 1.. Richmond team have already started intense training. ami the news from the maroons' headquarter* is that there will be thirteens out for all grades. Richmond have been a shining example of proper team spirit and community of interest, and their policy of encouraging their juniors has proved very successful. La~t year they run l)evon;» rt close for the .Montieth Shield and were unfortunate in not being More proniinr; t in lat:r games, hen t heir >idc wa considerably weakened through several stars receiving injuries. Mo«. of the seniors of last year will be out again, but some rather serious defections are being discussed. Doubt exis's as to whether S. Prentice, the star back of last year and .ill Black, will be available, owin-r to

injury received on the plav.ng field, while Taylor, the clever centre, who scored more points than any other senior player last season, threatens to stow away his togs for good. Swift, the light, but speedy winger, and George Stewart, an energetic typ> of forward. will also be

standing down. Of the old brigade there will be Davis, Hanlon, and Wheaton in the backs, and Colebrook, .Tonkinson, Dixon and Jones in the forwards. The return of Telford, one of the maroons' star forwards two seasons ago. from Sydney, is hailed with delight. Telford is a fine stamp of forward, who learnt his football with Richmond, and made a name for himself while playing for the Glebe seniors across the Tasman. Other welcome additions to the team will be Harris (a Buller rep forward), Joe Hamilton (a North Auckland Rugby rep, who played league for the first time last year) and Hyland (formerly captain of the senior team, and a man who can give a good account of himself in any position in the backs. Young Mincham. who graduated from the juniors late last year, will become a permanent fixture on the wing, as far as can lie foreseen, and a successful career apppcars to be ahead of him.
