PUBLIC WORKS WAGES.
There has been much talk of late about wages on public works. On Tucsdav vou said that no man got under 14/ per dav.* However, such is not the case. Let us take the public works at Pipiriki, for instance. Clay is 7d per jard and papa 1/3. For the papa a man nas to buy his own explosives, which are £5 a case. I elaim that by working eight hours a day a man could only make 8/. Why the men are making 14/ is because they arc working 14 hours a day. It is all verv well for people to write to your naper savin- !,.,w niiicli the Publie Works ~i :v. but t'-' ..s7- •, ha- Worki:!
