FLOURISHING MISSIONS.
PRIESTS' TOUR ABROAD.
Combining a health trip with missionary purposes, the Rev. T. O'Gormon parish priest, of Guildford. West Australia, arrived at Auckland on the Marama this morning en route to England and Ireland, via the United States of America. Travelling in company with Father O'Gormon was the Rev. .J. Devokler, a priest of the Auckland dioccsc. who has been on an extended holiday in Australia. Java, Sumatra and elsewhere. Father Devolder, a Mill Hill father, has worked in the Auckland diocese for fifteen years and for four years was parish priest at Dargaville. He will probably be given a post in the diocese by Bishop Clearv. Father Devolder said his travels had opened his eyes to the wonderful work which the Catholic. Church was doing it; Java, Sumatra and Colombo. Everywhere lie found flourishing missions and large schools conducted by various religious orders. In Java the schools were particularly impressive. They were subsidised by Government grants and maintained a high standard.
