A.A.A. TOURS.
HOUND THAMES WAY
To investigate motoring conditions on the Coroniandel Peninsula, officials of the Auckland Automobile Association last week-end concluded a tour of this district. Mr. A. Cirayson, president, and | Mr T P King, a vice-president, accompanied the touring manager, who was busy gathering information and makin 0 notes for the compilation of the new season's maps and guides. T , \fter addressing a meeting at Thames the route to Mercury Bay, via Coroglen, was followed and the camping grounds and other facilities for motorists were inspected. Coromandel was next reached, and the route north via Amodeo Bay to Colville was followed. At Colville the local motorists turned out on bloc to welcome the A.A.A. and accompanied the party through the northern district. The «iew route to Port Charles was also inspected and a stop was made at the new camping ground at Waikawau Bay. North of Colville, 011 the eastern side of the peninsula, access is being given to i Port Jackson and an examination of this I route was also carried out by the tourI ing manager. the opinion that as the roads improved thousands of motorists would make this trip, which, in time, would be a very popular one. He urged the residents to co-operate and induce the County Council to institute a progressive and up-to-date policy with regard to permanent surfaces and metalling.
